Naughty Dog developed a game engine for Uncharted from the beginning and reached a new and successful line in areas such as storytelling, animations and graphics for 2007, the date of the first game’s release. In fact, the first game, Uncharted Drake’s Fortune, was the first game to test the vibration feature brought to Playstation arms.

When Drake’s Fortune, the first game of the Uncharted series, was liked, Naughty Dog rolled up its sleeves for Uncharted 2 Among Thieves and started by updating its own game engine. The final version of the resulting game engine was called Naughty Engine 2.0. The story of the game is based on Marco Polo. As you know, the traveler Marco Polo is one of the rare foreigners who managed to become Kublai Khan‘s close adviser and friend. On his return from Asia to Europe, he sets off with fourteen ships loaded with Kublai Khan’s gifts. However, only a few of these ships reach Europe. Legend has it that most of these treasure-laden ships sink on the way and are buried deep in the sea.

The story of Uncharted 2 Among Thieves begins in Istanbul with Drake’s ex-girlfriend Chloe and her teammate in search of the Cintamani Stone, one of the treasures on these ships. The museum robbery that took place in Istanbul leads us straight to Nepal. We are in fierce competition with war criminal Zoran Lazerovic, who is searching for the same treasure in Nepal, and we meet again with our dear Elena, who is on the same side in this story.

The conversation between Drake and Elena has become much more fun, interesting and makes the player happy.

Uncharted 2 Among Thieves is an adventure game with an increased dose of action compared to the first game. Thanks to the updated game engine, cinematics, controls, graphics, everything has been improved and a smooth game experience has been provided.

The storytelling is pretty good, like many of Naughty Dog’s games, and builds on the first game. Since the players recognize some of the characters from the first game, the problem of identifying has already solved, and the story manages to absorb you in a moment.

The atmosphere of the episodes in Nepal is really nice.

I think due to the success of Assassin’s Creed in 2009, we perform more climbing actions in this game compared to the first game, but especially the moments when we climbed the hotel in Nepal and the fast pace of the game offered an experience far ahead of Assassin’s Creed. Every moment I spent in Nepal was very enjoyable.

The game has a third-person perspective. Compared to the first game, the platform-like camera angle is less frequently used. The game time is also longer than the first game. While Uncharted Drake’s Fortune ends in 4.5 – 5 hours; Uncharted 2 Among Thieves is completed in approximately 7.5 – 8 hours.
